REMARKS BY THE MINISTER OF LANDS AND REGIONAL GOVERNMENT, HON MOMODOU F K. KOLLEY AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE FIRST RETREAT OF THE MINISTRY OF LANDS AND REGIONAL GOVERNMENT HELD AT THE RURAL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE MANSAKONKO LOWER RIVER REGION 25TH JANUARY 2014
Chairman, Regional Governors, Members of staff of the Ministry of Lands and Regional Government, Directors of various Departments/Unit, Chairpersons of councils, Chief Executive Officers, Seyfolu, Participants, Rapporteurs, Ladies and Gentlemen, good afternoon.
Today, we have come to the end of three fruitful days of our first Ministerial Retreat and it is fitting that I register my sincere thanks and appreciation to you all for your immense contributions and effective participation in the deliberations, without which the success of this retreat would not have been achieved. I would like to pay a glowing tribute to all the sectors for the sound and detailed presentations made at this retreat. I must admit that I personally find most of the presentations extremely interesting, intriguing and informative. Also, it is my fervent view that the information gathered here in this retreat will be fully synchronized for the preparation of coherent and viable work and action plans. Similarly, such information will put the
Ministry and its line institutions on a proper trajectory for the realization of its Strategic Plan in line with the ideals of Vision 2020 and the Governments Programme for Accelerated Growth and Employment (PAGE).
Ultimately, His Excellency the Presidenti of the Republic of the Gambia Shiekh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A. J.J. Jammeh has always clamored for attitudinal change with corresponding shift in paradigm for the realization of our national development goals and objectives.
Similarly, the Ministry fully recognizes and appreciates your fruitful participation in the discussions and contributions that ensued after the various presentations. It is hoped therefore, that as we march out of the four corners of this hall, l we hall enthusiastically take along with us back to our respective offices all that we have gained from this retreat for immediate and proper implementation. The challenges lying before us are huge but I am of the conviction that with our collective will, commitment and det3ermination, we can overcome some if not all of them. Under the dynamic and wise leadership of His Excellency the President of the
Republic, Shiekh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh the sky is the limit for all forms of developmental aspirations.
Consequently, the end of this retreat should undoubtedly mark the beginning of more robust initiatives and actions in properly shaping and directing the state of affairs of our respective institutions and hence the Ministry. The ultimate success and outcome of this retreat will be determined and measured by the result achieved which I challenge you all to go the extra mile and work harder to achieve. The year under review should be seen as a year with a difference for the local Government fraternity given that is Retreat is the first of its kind ever held by this Ministry.
In this vein, I would like to profoundly thank you all in joining the Ministry’s foresight and vision in organizing this Retreat. Bringing the Local Government Fraternity together to shape a better future for this Ministry was indeed laudable.
In conclusion, Mr. Chairman, I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you well, and a safe and pleasant journey back to your respective destinations. May Allah the Almighty give us the strength and wisdom to collectively steer and affairs of the Ministry of Lands and Regional Government forward. I thank you all for kind attention.
