International Standard Serial Number (ISSN)
The Gambia National Library Service Authority (GNLSA) serves as the official national agency responsible for issuing International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSNs) in The Gambia.
An ISSN is an eight-digit code used to uniquely identify serial publications such as journals, newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and other periodicals. It ensures that serials are easily recognized and managed in international databases and library catalogues.
Our Role Section
The GNLSA assigns ISSNs to all types of serial publications produced in The Gambia, whether in print or electronic format. This service helps publishers, editors, and institutions ensure that their serials are properly identified and accessible globally.
By registering for an ISSN, your serial publication becomes part of the international ISSN network, facilitating:
Efficient cataloguing and indexing
Easier distribution and marketing
Reliable referencing in academic and research databases
Increased visibility and accessibility of your publication
