The Digital Center serves as a vital component of the Gambia National Library’s commitment to advancing access to information and technology. It provides an enabling environment where individuals can acquire digital skills, access online resources, and engage in meaningful digital learning and innovation.
Brief History
The Digital Center was inaugurated in April 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Gambia National Library’s ongoing commitment to modernization and digital inclusion.
The launch was made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Gambia National Library, whose partnership made the vision a reality.
The Center was established with the goal of fostering critical thinking, creativity, and responsible digital citizenship among learners. It also serves as a space that promotes collaboration, innovation, and comprehensive participation in digital learning, equipping citizens—especially youth and students—with the skills required to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Objectives
The Center aims to:
Promote digital literacy and ICT competence among students, researchers, and the general public.
Provide affordable and reliable access to computers and internet services.
Support research and academic development through access to digital tools and online databases.
Encourage innovation and entrepreneurship through technology-based learning and support programs.

Public Internet Access and Free Wi-Fi – High-speed internet and Wi-Fi connectivity available to the general public, supporting research, communication, and e-learning.
Digital Skills Training – Structured training in computer literacy, office software, and online safety for all age groups.
Daily After-School Activities – Supervised technology-based learning and creative sessions designed for students.
Information Services for the Visually Impaired – Accessible digital resources and assistive technologies to support inclusive information access.
Senior Citizen Tech Education – Tailored programs helping older adults learn to use digital devices, online services, and communication tools confidently.
Printing, Scanning, and Photocopying – Convenient and affordable document services for students and professionals.
