Board of Directors

The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, guidance, and governance for the Gambia National Library Service Authority (GNLSA). The Board ensures that the Authority fulfills its mandate to promote literacy, lifelong learning, and equitable access to information resources across the nation.

The Board plays a vital role in steering the overall direction and effectiveness of the GNLSA. Its primary responsibilities include:

Establishing strategic goals and policies that align with national education and information development objectives.

Overseeing the management and use of public resources to ensure accountability and transparency.

Supporting the continuous development and modernization of library and information services nationwide.

Promoting partnerships and collaborations that enhance the reach and impact of the GNLSA.

Monitoring performance and ensuring the Authority adheres to its mission, vision, and values.

The GNLSA Board is composed of professionals from diverse sectors including education, information science, community development, and governance.

Each member is appointed for a three-year term, renewable once, except for ex-officio members.

The Chairperson provides leadership in ensuring that the Board operates effectively and in accordance with good governance principles.Subcommittees may be established to focus on specific areas such as finance, policy, or outreach.

The GNLSA Board is dedicated to upholding principles of integrity, accountability, and transparency in all its operations. Its members are committed to fostering an inclusive and innovative library system that serves all Gambians equitably.
